Congrats to Leah...this week's winner!

It has taken me these three weeks to get back into the {groove} of school. Now, I have 3 kids to get ready and I am feeling a bit "lop sided". I do believe organization is the "key" to a peaceful and productive morning.
I make my kids lunches the night before (except sandwiches). The backpacks are packed, the uniforms are layed out and even the shoes are out in the garage at night. I am a HUGE {schedule} person...if it can be scheduled I do it! I even have a schedule for each day of the week and breakfast meals! It keeps me on task and lessens the complaining b/c the kids know what each day is!

Monday- Waffles

Thursday- Cereal
Friday- Your choice (usually it's cereal!) or Eggs

I also get my kids up about 15-20 minutes than I really need to ! It gives them the time if they are "moving" slowly that morning. Or to go over any school work and review for a quiz, they may have for that day.
Mornings are the "start" of the day for everyone. When we are rushed or not ready, it affects everyone....even me!
What breakfast "items" would we find on your table?

We do mostly cereal in the mornings as my girls can easily get it for themselves. I do offer hot cereals, eggs, and sometimes muffins and mini blueberry bagels with peanut butter and honey as options. My girls seem to go in spurts- only wanting a certain cereal or breakfast item. I try to indulge their breakfast wants (if reasonable) as it is the most important meal/start of the day.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to make my first batch of granola soon!
Cereal/yogurt, muffins, oatmeal with apples or peaches, pancakes, breakfast burritos or other egg dish...LOVE breakfast food! We just found someone making bagels here! I bought 3 dozen and froze them!
ReplyDeleteCereal and fruit are choices of the Miller house. Getting prepared the night before works best here too. Love your tips!

ReplyDeleteCereal and milk for us!
ReplyDeleteGood planning the night before, a happy attitude, and a healthy breakfast ready to go! It wass always difficult to 'give up the kids' at the end of the summer because we had so much fun. Always tried to extend the fun by planning little adventures over the weekends while the weather remained nice into the fall. Arts and crafts during the winter months.
ReplyDeleteMy son usually likes to just eat cinnamon waffles on weekdays. We do muffins, pancakes, oatmeal, and eggs/bacon on weekends.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, hands down and my kids don't get to leave without eating something. We have muffins once a week with juice, cereal, oatmeal, cream of wheat or grits the others - and occasionally eggs [we usually do the big breakfasts on Sundays].
ReplyDeleteMy next to youngest just left for college [she has been there three weeks] and she told me last night that she had a confession - I was thinking, okay....what could it be? She admitted that she had skipped breakfast once because she had over slept. :D

We have just started serving homemade frozen pancakes and the kids LOVE them. I made a double batch of pancakes every Sat. morning and freeze all the leftovers when they are still warm in a ziplock bag between waxpaper. Take them out, microwave, and serve them. They literally taste fresh off the griddle!
My 12 year old daughter doesnt like eating in the morning, so I always have to be creative to get anything in her tummy before school. Her favorites are a piece of bread with peanut butter on it and then a sliced apple with peanut butter to dip it in. Another favorite is strawberries and cream with a granola bar. Whatever works! :)
