It is hard to believe that summer is coming to an end. I am not ready to put the beach towels away or put the summer toys in storage. So we are going to try to enjoy every last minute....swimming, riding bikes, BBQ's...even a quick trip up to my parent's cottage.
At the beginning of summer, we made a "Summer To Do List". We still have a few things that need to be done like camping out in the backyard or having a picnic at the park. So my plan is to get out that tent from the basement and let the kids sleep under the stars before that first day of school. It's a simple thing but it's those type of memories that we all remember. I don't remember the "expensive" things we did as a family growing up...it was the simple and cheap activities.
As a kid, we use to sleep in tents all summer. We would move the tents from one neighbors house to the next b/c our parents didn't want dead, yellow grass. We had so much fun and it wasn't till the night before school began that we finally slept in our own beds.
It was hard to say "goodbye" to summer .
I think my kids have had the same type of summer and don't want it to end. So these last days we will pick "ideas" off our "To Do" list and make some more summer "memories".

We'd definitely like to go to the beach one last time before school starts.
ReplyDeletemami2jcn at gmail dot com
We went to the waterpark and today we are going to get Lexi's new pointe shoes, so a venture out of town to a BIG mall. Tomorrow she starts Middle School.♥
ReplyDeleteI'm a law student who took summer classes, so my "summer break" consisted of 3 weeks after those were over. Oh, but I also work full time as a paralegal. So then that 3 week summer break consisted of only weekends with no reading for school. I'll take what I can get :) The last one is this weekend, and I plan on finishing up some projects at home to make the fall semester a tad less stressful and laying on the beach the rest of the time!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, at this point in my life, I am working hard all this summer, as I'm doing all year trying to make ends meet. The economic crisis has hit us here.
ReplyDeleteAm doing my very best to enjoy these beautiful days out with my camera photographing the gorgeous late summer flowers..
ReplyDeleteDenver is such a beautiful diverse city with so many interesting visual ops..
I love the pleasure of strolling tree lined parkways during the morning coolness, enjoying the summer floral aromas and busy insect sounds..
Denver also is a vibrant YOUTHFUL city..
Having many pathways for walking , biking and simply enjoying the beauty of being outdoors..
Far too soon snow flurries will arrive, blanketing the city in whiteness, transforming it into a beautiful but cold black and white winter wonderland..
So.. I'm clinging to every last ounce of summer
for all its color and worth..
after all I AM a Florida beach girl!
warm sandy hugs..
Loui♥
I am getting everything ready for baby!
ReplyDeleteWow i sure do remember those summer nights in tents with you ;)
ReplyDeleteI also remember swimming in your pool A LOT ! and of course the play house you had. That was awesome.
We are headed to Luddington next weekend for our first family camping trip. We will be staying in a tent 300yds from Lake Michigan. Cant wait!
Take care Debbie
