How I start my day is important...I would say I start it off with a diet Mountain Dew, however, I have gone cold turkey. No more "dew" for me! So my next "start" is grabbing a cup of ice tea or coffee! This is just a personal "starter" after that alarm rings.
I know that if things are orderly and planned out that my mornings go much smoother!
Even those nights that I am so tired...I get "ready" what I can for the morning. So then I can give more attention to my kid's breakfast. Even those days that we have cereal or toast, it is important to me that I include fruit or another healthy side with protein and vitamins.
I would love to say that I always serve a "healthy" breakfast but that just isn't so but planning ahead gives me a much better success rate than no planning at all. I try hard not to fall into the "Mommy guilt" but when my kids are short "changed" on breakfast I feel bad. So I try to get up at least 20 minutes before them to get myself ready and then able to "attack" the day with my kids starting at the breakfast table.
How do you start your day on "positive" note?

I try to thank the Lord, for another day. And usually, on my morning run...I just try to think of what my day has ahead, and let some of the stress go...early!
ReplyDeleteI tell myself over and over again that today will be a great day! (sometimes it works and sometimes not so much). LOL! I also try to think what my day will be like and tell my girls what to expect from the day (school, after school, etc) so surprises are kept to a minimum and life runs a little more smoothly. (at least most days).
ReplyDeleteSome mornings, my positive note is a run on the treadmill before the kids are up. Which means I'm up too early--but the endorphins and sweat are like medicine to my soul!
ReplyDeletebeana619 at gmail.com
Well, I always talk to God about my troubles and my blessings. Then, Brittany gives me a call each morning, which always puts a smile on my face. After we're done, I hop in the treadmill and go for a run...helps me to de-stress!
ReplyDeleteIn the first moments as I wake I try to think of what I'm grateful for.

Morning is my favorite time of day. I rise early, full of creative energy, grab a cup of coffee and head out the door to enjoy the quiet, glad to be able to hear nature around me before the rest of the neighborhood comes to life.
ReplyDeleteI have a cup of coffee and Special K cereal!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!

I don't enjoy waking up but I usually don't until the kids come in my room. But then I'll take my younger two and get some yummy snuggle time in. It helps get my day started right.
ReplyDeleteI start out by getting up an hour earlier than the kids and getting their stuff ready for school. Then I sit down to breakfast with them and talk about the day's events before giving them a big hug and getting them on the school bus.
ReplyDeletemami2jcn at gmail dot com
We get as much stuff prepped the night before as we can [backpack and snack packed, clothes laid out] so that the morning goes more smoothly. It's still no picnic, but it helps!

ReplyDeleteMost mornings I do my best not to nag my daughter to hurry up and get ready...we try waking up about 15 minutes earlier so we have plenty of time to relax and get ready to go.
ReplyDeleteshel704 at aol dot com
I am a morning person so I am up before anyone else and have my bowl of cereal in peace and quiet. I can look forward to each new day and the joys and challenges it will bring
ReplyDeleteI have two small boys, so there is no possible way to ENSURE that the day starts off on a positive note. Little boys are prone to be unreasonable about the silliest things (I didn't want ketchup on my sandwich today, or a fight to brush their teeth). I try to stay on our tight schedule - not leaving much room for negotiation. Get them up and out the door quickly and efficiently. Avoid conflict. Never try to make any important decisions (like if a they can have a playdate this weekend) during our morning routine. Most important of all, we start with a kiss and hug!
ReplyDeleteA positve note to start the day-I get everyone's clothes out the night before, and my hubby is the one to get the coffee going (...that is my positive note!). I MUST have coffee to start the day, or I feel like I am in a fog!
ReplyDeleteI try to avoid listening to the news other than the weather first thing in the morning to start on a positive note.

Do as much as possible the night before… clothes laid out, papers signed, bookbag ready, lunch or lunch money ready, etc. etc.
ReplyDeleteWell, first off, I try to get up before they do so I'm more awake when they leap from the bed, ready to take on the world. Then, I read to The Kids at breakfast. We have a short devotional (from this book called the “Did You Know…Devotions for Kids”that is AWESOME!) and then I read a chapter from whatever book we’re going through at the time. Currently, it’s the Great Illustrated Classics version of Around the World in 80 Days.
ReplyDeleteI wake up and do stretches I figured getting the blood flowing and the body ready for the days strenuous activities :) I try to wake up early to avoid the mad stressful morning rush to get ready hehe :)

My day goes smoothly when I start in prayer. I need to do it more!
ReplyDeletehttp://twitter.com/leahforlove/status/25373651193
ReplyDeleteI could eat a box of cereal every day. Instead, I try to limit myself to 1 bowl and some fruit. Coffee is always involved.
ReplyDeleteI like to start my day out with a protein packed breakfast of 1/2 c. cottage cheese, fruit and cereal. Then it's off to the gym for me!
ReplyDeleteI don't start work until 1:00 in the afternoon, so I love sleeping in until 10:00 or so, then enjoying lots of leisurely time over coffee and breakfast.
ReplyDeleteI start my morning on a positive note by petting my cats as soon as I wake up! Then it's on to Diet Pepsi, although like you, I've gone cold turkey too!
ReplyDeleteStrarting the day on a positive note requires being organized, having a checklist of things that have to be done, and having it all done the night before if possible.

I always get the kids clothes and backpack ready the night before so I don't have to mess with it early in the mornings. That actually makes a huge difference in running a smooth day. I make a simple, but healthy breakfast on school days while kids get dressed. Then they eat, brush teeth, get kisses and hugs, and off to school! Another great day marked down!

ReplyDeleteI have had a pretty negative outlook on my OWN life due to illness in the past years, but I try every day to be SUNNY even though I dont feel like it on the inside. Kids do need to have positive outlooks and I try to just be as much that way in conversation and tone as possible in the mornings, as they all head out. It is chaotic in the mornings with everyone heading out, but i always, ALWAYS say have a great day and I love you's to all the kids and hubby. I know if makes them feel secure and loved and THAT is the best thing you can feed your children at any age...at any time of life!
